Arrival of Participants.
Representatives of the Friends of the Crib - Malta will be at the Malta International Airport to greet participants and guide them to take transport to the Hotel.
At the Hotel, our staff will help participants through 'Check-in' and Registration.
Convention documents and mementos will be distributed at the Registration Desk.

16.30 hrs    Opening of the Mercatino where various Crib associated items will be on sale.  Malta made
                   products will feature prominently offered.
18.30 hrs    Welcome drink and opening of Convention.
                    Short speeches by Maltese Authorities and Friends of the Crib Officials will welcome
                    participants and declare the opening of the Convention.

20.00 hrs    Buffet dinner (Optional)

Thursday 8th November, 2018
08.30 hrs    Excursion 1   -    VALLETTA                                               

During this walking tour of Valletta we will visit:
*   The Floriana Granaries where until some years ago wheat used to be stored.
*   The newly refurbished Triton Square and Valleta City Gate designed by world famous  Renzo Piano.
*   St John co-Cathedral built in the 16th century as the collegiate church of the Knights Hospitallers of St John.  Behind it autere facade, the co-Cathedral houses a richly decorated ceiling and sculptured chapels. One of Caravaggio's outstanding works of art, the Beheading of John the Baptist can be admired in one of the Chapels.
 *   St George's Square flanked by the Presidential Palace, formerly the Palace of the
      Grandmaster of the Order of the Knights.
 *   Castile Square where the Office of the Prime Minister occupies the former Auberge of the
      Langue of Castille.
 *   The Upper Barracca Gardens overlooking a magnificent Grand Harbour surrounded by
      historical fortifications.  

1Image result for Images of mdina gate6.30 hrs    Excursion to Mdina - the Silent Walled City - once the Capital City of Malta.
The tour of Mdina will start with a visit to the Cathedral Museum where an exhibition of cribs set up for the Convention, will be inaugurated. A walk along quiet and narraw streets leads to the Mdina bastions from where a breathtaking view of Malta's skyline can be enjoyed.  This will be followed by a break for a snack or coffee before proceeding to the Cathedral of St Paul for a Concert of Sacred Music.

The Jubilate Deo Choir winner of various local and foreign honours, under the direction of Mro. Christopher Muscat will give a 75 minute concert of Sacred Music featuring also compositions by Maltese composers of international repute.  The young section of the Choir - Pueri Cantores will will join the adult choristers for a final encore.

Friday 9th November, 2018

08.30 hrs     Excursion 2   -   MOSTA / RABAT

Today's excursion start at Mosta with a visit to the world famous Dome dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady. A visit to Crib exhibitions will follow.
Coaches will then take us on a site seeing tour of Rabat and the central part of Malta before dropping us at The Porziuncola, a Retreat House by the Franciscan Friars.
The Porziuncola, surrounded by open countryside within a short distance from the sea, will be the venue for the rest of the day dealing mainly with Cribs.
Following a light lunch we will proceed to the workshop area where demonstrations and free discussions about Crib construction will be offered.  Weather permitting, a walk around the peaceful gardens of the Porziuncola will be both relaxing and enjoyable.

17.00 hrs    Plenary Discussion Meeting.
                   Part 1:    Christmas Cribs in Europe - a kaleidoscope of traditions and cultures!
18.00 hrs                    Coffee Break
18.30 hrs    Part 2:    Building friendships through diversities.
                                   Close of discussions.
19.30 hrs    Dinner prepared by the Porziuncola staff.     
Saturday 10th November, 2018

08.30 hrs    Excursion 3   -   VITTORIOSA / ZEJTUN                          
Our first visit will be to Vittoriosa, a fortified city overlooking Malta's Grand Harbour. During a walking tour of the city we shall visit the Inquisitor's Palace - now a heritage museum - where crib samples are housed in one of the halls.
Our walk ends at the City gate from where coaches will take us to the Institute Gesu Nazzarenu to admire a mechanical crib built by a Maltese Bishop in 1947. This crib sits on a platform of approximately 70m.

20.00 hrs    Maltese Night - Farewell Dinner with local food specialities.
                   Farewell speeches and presentation of plaques will close the evening and the

Sunday 11th November, 2018                          OPTIONAL
                    A full day in Gozo.
